Are there any skeet or sporting clay clubs around Barrie (or within an hours drive) that welcome walk-ons? I checked out the Barrie Gun Club and TITS, and both look like members only.

Most of the clubs are members only. I did some research too, and it seems gagnon is the only club that allows non-member clay shooting. Not sure if it's okay to do clay shooting in crown land.

Why not join the ranges? Ranges need members to survive.. we need ranges to survive, until we can all build our own

NZClaybuster, I was visiting the area and had some spare time. I am a member of my local club for skeet but also shoot as a non-member of 3 different sporting clays clubs that are about 1 hour drive from me. The only reason I am not a member of these clubs beside the 1 hour drive is that they shoot with same days as skeet at my club, 15 minute drive.
All the clubs in my area welcome walk-ons for trap and skeet (if they offer skeet). How else do you attract new members? No one joins a golf club if they have never played golf before.

Fair comment...
Just want everyone to know that clubs need us and we need to be able to fund clubs to expand. the pressure on the clubs to go away has to be countered by the internal pressure to grow.

I could not agree more. The sport will not grow and clubs will go the way of the Do-Do bird if we don't encourage new shooters. The same goes for every shooting sport. My club has about 300 members and I have never heard of people on a waiting list to join.
