hi folks,

I would be interested in trying/getting into skeet/trap for fun and to improve skills. I have a few 12gauges shotties but not sure where to start to get into the sport.

Is there trap ranges locally that offer beginners info?
thanks in advance for any input

I don't do trap but I know that Silverdale in the Grimsby area offers a trap course for beginners. It's around an hour away from Mississauga (I drive from Mississauga to shoot there).

Hamilton Gun Club. Much closer than Silverdale. If you want lessons Florin Marinache is a national level coach and very enthusiastic.

info@learntrapshooting.ca for the coaching.

Good club, I use you be a member but then got into pistol, its a shot gun only club
The president of the club (Ken) spent 5 hrs showing myself and a friend around, also 3skeet games and 1 trap, used his guns all for free.
His wife Donna runs the payment centre

Florin runs the trap field next to the club

Galt is on the east side of Cambridge and has skeet, trap, 5 stand, and sporting clays. I found them friendly for noobs and when I started shooting clays there last fall, everyone I ever shot with said the same thing, "We were all beginners at one time as well!"

People at Silverdale superb and there is trap tournament every Thursday night from 6 to 8. Super friendly and super supportive group!

I took a beginner lesson with Florin, very helpful, he teaches you a lot.

Recently shot my first full session of trap at Guelph Gun Club.
Harder than I thought, but also did better than I thought I was going to as well.
The trap shooters there are very welcoming and incredibly helpful.

Honestly, almost EVERY trap & skeet club is welcoming to new shooters. If they weren't, they wouldn't last long. There will always be somebody there who remembers what it was like the first time they went, and will gladly show you the ropes.
