Not a lot of info on the website, hopefully there will be lot more details once the official release happens.

I have already contacted them, and will check them out at SHOT.
I specifically asked about Canada. They are aware of us.

ANY QUESTIONS YOU WANT ME TO ASK THEM?

--Canadian NR model submitted for FRT approval
--18.5" actual barrel length, choice of clean barrel or flash hider added
--Barrel threaded, to accept either FH or thread protector?
--Standard AR-15 spec barrel extension, or proprietary?
--HOW WELL DOES IT RETAIN ITS ZERO?

It's always good to get new entrants on the market. My initial impression of this is that it looks like a slightly uglier ACR, but that price is certainly more attractive. I appreciate that they'r trying to keep the weight down—sub 7lbs is very nice. But am I the only one not enamoured with quick change barrels on light rifles? it seems like there's always a compromise—lower accuracy, higher cost, higher weight, or something else. Can they ease my concerns here?

Oh, and before everyones asks: non-restricted barrel lengths available?
 
Does this part "To further the X11’s modular features, it utilizes AR-15 drop in fire control groups." mean non-restricted is unlikely?
 
if its not restricted these would be awesome.

The 1:7 barrel twist rate is right.

As long as its functionally half decent and not restricted, it will be a commercial success in Canada at that price.

The price might be the problem in Canada though. (sarcasm) It's not expensive enough to be unrestricted here. The only unrestricted rifles of this type in Canada are $3,000 and up.

I've always thought a $3,000 price tag was code for... ok then its not restricted. I figure cause the feds figure thugs cant afford $3000.

What's with that?

Quick change barrels screw us out of any chance of getting decent accuracy out of the rifle and who in the heck actually buys the other barrels anyway.... I mean the second barrel is usually more expensive than many rifles out there.

I'd much prefer slow change barrel accuracy over fast change miss every darn thing spray and pray junk gun.

I really dont understand why manufacturers think a quick change barrel system is a good feature... sounds like a feature that a very marginal few would appreciate at the cost of crap accuracy for all.

am I missing something?

I used to get 1MOA using Ruag GP90 out of my AUG with the ring and dot optic. Barrels don't get any more quick change than that. I used to show clear at matches by pulling out the barrel, so it was out a lot. I never had to adjust my sights.

It has interesting potential for Canada.
But how do they expected to be commercially successful in the states competing against ARs?

Is a FH really needed?
It does NOT count towards measured barrel length.
If the FH is deleted, saving 1.5", and the barrel is extended 2.5" (16" in USA, 18.5" in Canada), then the TOTAL increase is only one inch.
If I was buying a milsurp, I want it to be exactly as issued.
But if I am getting a new civvy gun, then I would certainly consider a clean muzzle.
In fact, I would prefer it clean.

This is a good point, Dean. Maybe you could ask them about it? Could you also ask them about our version having a threaded barrel? That way, guys could either keep them capped if they don't want anything at the end of the barrel or put on whatever type of muzzle device they would like to use on it after they get it. Lord knows a good amount of people already change out an A2 birdcage anyway so I don't see it as a bad idea from the companies perspective.

Ya maybe you would get good groups sometimes, but I'll bet dollars to donuts your poi changes from one day to the next. This will depend on how particular and sensitive you are about this.
Holding a zero is key.

And then one other wildcard is the specific method used for the qd barrel. Most systems are weak. Maybe your gp90 was just better than most.

Where do you guys get your info from?
Quick change barrel does not reduce accuracy at all if it's done right. My ACR will shoot sub 1 moa with my 300BLK conversion and I can remove the barrel and put it back in without a POI shift. Most guys with a quality stainless barrel are seeing the same thing with quality ammo. If you look only at an XCR then sure but that's how to do it wrong and does not mean all rifles are the same.
Considering it says nitrided chromolly barrel I would guess that depending on the mounting system it could be capable of sub 2 moa which is pretty good for this type of rifle. If the barrel uses an AR extension that opens it up to having match barrels built for it and reducing groups even more.

Cost? Just remember that after converting that price to Canadian and then adding the import/export costs it's going to end up well over $2000 plus the local retailer will tack on at least 20% so they make some money.

To me this rifle looks like it has potential, I'm looking forward to seeing them here if they end up shipping them with a longer non restricted length barrel for us, which by the way will also increase the cost slightly since it will be a special run for us.
Hopefully the RCMP class it based on facts alone and let them through as non restricted if the barrel is long enough. Depending on the barrel, if it's possible to swap in a longer barrel and convert a restricted rifle to non like an ACR I'd be satisfied with that as well if it could keep prices lower.

So, tootall, please ask if the barrels use an AR extension and maybe some more details on the gas system so we can figure out if we can build barrels for them or if we'll have to buy their barrel kits.

Ya, being a click or two off is a matter of life and death here in Canada when target shooting or varmint hunting.

GP90 is the type of ammo not the rifle, if he was getting 1 moa from an AUG that's really good, I've never heard of those being known for accuracy.
