Has any one tried one of skinners barrel mounted peep sight on a Henry or any other rifle for that matter? Thinking about getting one but just wanted to hear peoples experience first.

I've got them on four rifles - Browning BA-22, a couple of Winchester M92's, an Uberti 1885 - and have one on the way which will be going on a Winchester M61 I just acquired. They work well and look good.

I'm pleased to see that (Ruger's) Marlin has decided to use them on some new-production Marlins.

It's a good sign, I think.

Do you think it is just as fast and accurate to shoot on a peep sight that’s mounted on the receiver?

A receiver mounted peep wasn't really an option for those rifles I mentioned, but I do have receiver mounted peep sights on other rifles. For me there is little, if any, practical difference in speed of target acquisition and accuracy by having the rear sight further away from the eye on those rifles compared to other 'similar' rifles I own (eg. TCR 22 with peep on the receiver vs. BA22 with peep on the barrel) for the type of shooting I do. I am sure that the receiver mounted sight affords a greater degree of accuracy for target shooting, but I don't think that you give up a great deal by using the barrel mounted sight on rifles used for plinking, shooting steel, field use, etc.

A barrel mounted sight is more of a ghost ring then a peep, to me a peep means a small hole that you peep through....this needs to be close to your eye and is more for target use.
