First remove the stock and hand gaurd so you wont damage the wood.
Then with a stubby flat tip screwdriver and push down on the sight ladder above the axis pin and pull it to the rear. It will have alot of spring pressure so it many take some force.
On my 1952 Russian, there was a pin that had to be removed. This pin prevented the sight from being pushed down enough to be released.

I just check mine and some of my russians and chinese have the extra pin. So like bjs7293 said remove the pin first.
