May 18, 2010 - sorry for the PB lost image, will fix ASAP

This is the target that I shot last Aug. 26, 2009 at 200 yds. off bench

My rifle is a Tula 1951 refurb. unchromed bore, laminated stock. The issue open sight was impossible to use (for old eyes) so I installed a Tech 200 peep and the Tech front sight. This target was shot, while another CGNer was routinely putting 3 shots into clover leafs. all well under 0.5" while my group here was 4" wide X 8" high, more or less.

Since firing this target, I've found out that the Tech 200 needs Loctite Blue on the 4 small socket set screws touching the rear of the receiver cover as well as the nut and set screw into which the bolt replacing the take down latch. Furthermore, I have added a lock washer under the head of this bolt.

I found that without the Loctite and the washer, the sight would shake loose, even when the bolt was turned in tight and the set screw firmly turned in against the bolt.

I have every confidence that the disassembly of the sight, receiver cover and bold group will not change my sight setting however I will only remove them when it is obvious that it is needed.

So, the trigger group has been worked on and the following done:
-new hammer
-new diconnector
-shortened trigger bar lengthened
-new springs

All of the above was necessary for safety as well as accuracy.

Until I tried the rifle with the reworked trigger, I thought the crappy trigger pull on my rifle was normal. Not so and there is no comparsion.
The double pull of course has been maintained.

I only fired 2 X 5 shots at 30 metres and am well satisfied.I am anxious to try it again at 200 yds.

I've posted a new thread today, at:

with images of the Tech Sight 200 installation and my findings in mounting it solid.

I like the Tech 200 sights, but I don't like the idea of having to mess with the zero every time I shoot corrosive and want to clean the thing.

I may just peen the rear sight ramp to keep it from bouncing around, deepen the groove a titch, and a get a narrow front sight post and just be done with it.

What kind of springs did you use? Wolf?

I'm reasonably certain that I will not need to rezero after the occasional cleaning. This will only be verified after several trips to the range and I feel that the FP etc. must be checked. I have no intention of shooting the rifle a great deal.

My eyes will no longer work with open sights and I much prefer a good peep. Scope? Not on this rifle.

Wolf.

If I may ask who did you end up getting your trigger work done with. Also I am wondering why the hammer had to be replaced.Never ran across a bad or worn hammer, I just square and polish the surfaces.
