SKS accessories

Is there a way to outfit the SKS with an optical scope without drilling and tapping the receiver?

LER scope on a scount mount would work okay. The receiver cover mounts aren't very good, IMO.

Where did you buy yours from?
I bet the dealer has it, and is selling them separate...which IMHO is a pretty greasy sales tactic.

No actually I got it from JP (he is now out of them, by the way :( ) and I am sure it is nothing of a tactic.

There are likely dealers that do this however ;) I wish I had gotten one with the chinese letters on it tho, I picked what looked to have the nicest overall condition, however I would have preferred a more-chinky one. For a shooter though it is great :) I will probably pick up a second one soon and give it el-cheapo safe-queen status :p The next one I get, I won't check in the bore as much as what the receiver has written on it...

The best mount is the drill and tap one. Kalinka makes a good mount at a good price. All the other ones must be removed in order to clean the rifle and are therefor subject to movement.

I found I had to sight in after every cleaning with mine and when your shooting milsurp ammo that means every time you shoot. That really takes the fun away.

About the only thing sight wise I'd use on a receiver cover mount would be a non-magnified redot sight. Which are minute of garden gnome at 100 yards anyway. :D

I read tat last post and damned near wet myself ...
WE bought a house last May and the lady that owned it was quite a gardener.
There were 11 gardens on a 1 Acre Lawn. She left the gnomes and my wife hated them so we set them up as targets......lmao

I just ordered the Choate mount which is for drilling and tapping the receiver. I haven't seen the Kalinka mount. I'll keep you posted on how the Choate works out though.

Minute of garden gnome...that was hilarious! Now they would be FUN targets I agree!
