Sks action not closing right?

So I bought and cleaned my 1952 Russian sks. I have not had it to the range yet but when I put it back together I noticed some times the action (silver part)closes and comes in contact with the steel above the chamber (black) rather than sliding over it?
Any one know what I am talking about?

I took it a part and put it back together 3 or 4 times and same thing.
I wont get the range for a week or two but Maybe I should just shoot it and see if it causes any issues. I thought I would put it out to you sks pros first

I have the same issue with my '52 Tula.
It's nothing Comrade.
Unlatch the magazine and leave it hanging. Then pull back on the charging handle all the way and let it fly.
Does it still bind up? Or does it close all the way?
If it closes all the way then there is nothing to worry about at all.
Mine would only do it if I rode the action and let the bolt and carrier gently go forward.
For those who aren't tracking he is talking about the stripper clip guide on the bolt carrier and how it slides over the top of the chamber. He is saying sometimes it doesn't close all the way and binds up on the top of the chamber partially closed.
Hope this helps man.
Cheers!

***That was exactly the issue

With the recoil spring in the right way it slides forward a hair higher. Even if I baby it now it closes perfectly.

Thank you for the help everyone,

if you move the forward lever which releases the gas tube to it's half way position (about 45 degree), it'll put your SKS in single shot mode. Good to know when at the range if you don't want it to go semi-auto.

wrong , thats not what the lever was designed for .

all you are doing is unlocking the gas tube and using the lever locking mechanism to stop the piston from moving back , the piston could damage the lock .
