SKS aftermarket receiver cover causing spring to bind

spring binds when bolt is open, jamming bolt open. any ideas?
When i revert back to original receiver cover issue goes away.
 
wavy part to the rear, i think i found what it is, i have the bolt handleslidingin and out of the stock cover, [just the bolt handle and the cover, sliding in and out] i see how far back it goes, now if i do the same thing, bolt handle sliding in and out of the aftermarket Marstar cover, it doesnt go all the way back.. it binds on one side as it cuts in at an angle.
going to dremel it flush, results to be posted momentarily]

tried er both ways, regardless whick way its installed, it isnt the spring thats binding its the actual bolt in the reciever cover.
 
did you "fit" the cover in place.i.e. did you have to dremel the 2 front "prongs" so it fit.also,did you have to open the slot in the rear of the cover for the lock-pin to fit.

i'm saying this'cause i did 2 chinese made covers and fitting is necessary.
i dremeled the prongs a lot and also enlarged the pin retention hole.

maybe the cover is waaaay too tight.how hard is it to push the pin in?
 
the pin was hard fitting at first, no problems now as i have had t in and out 500 times..
the problem is INSIDE the cover, to the rear near where the pin goes through. i dremelled the hell out of it and it isnt sticking to the point it needs to ba HAMMERED out anymore.. it still is sticky tho and im out of dremel grinders....
i also had to dremel the top of the front where the top of the bolt goes in.
im not quitting now... i want this to fit... its 90% there.
i dont think the front prongs need grinding.

Take after market receiver cover...down the the ocean and throw it in as far as you can.
It will make a miniature reef for small marine critters.

Put the original back on, or buy a replacement original one.

PS the only thing supporting the flat washer holding the spring together is the fact it needs to be inside the bolt carrier for support...ie as others have said hide the wavy part inside.

fyi the aftermarket receiver cover mount Marstar sells is total garbage.
as an afterthought and trying to fit it to three different SKS' all with the same result, this thing is garbage and will be trashed as such. Not even going to bother calling Marstar about this, as im pretty sure it will be a waste of time.
 
I had one of the aftermarket receivers, that allows mounting of a scope to a rail.
The Directions state that you may need to file the tips in order to get a proper fit.
I did that, and no issues on fit.
Problem I saw was that since you have to remove it to clean the gun, the scope would never stay dialed in.
I removed the aftermarket and put the original back on.
 
i wish it was just the tips, the inner diameter of the mount is so uneven and badly done, i must have rec'd one that the factory slacker must have made.
the cost of the dremel bits im using this have almost surpassed the cost of the cover..

Thank you for your review, we always appreciate an objective point of vew.... We would really like to see some pictures to further understand what happened....

I must say I am surprised, we have sold over 1000 of these covers, not one single customer advised us of a problem similar to yours.... Yes they sometimes require fititng, not all SKS rifles are created equal.... Perhaps IF you had taken a moment and called our gunsmth, TOLL FREE, he might assisted you ?

So calling Marstar, despite our reputation for customer support, "would be a waste of time" ????

What has led you to this conclusion ??

John, thanks so much for the accusatory response.
What led me to the conclusion of not bothering wasting my time calling Marstar, and just writing off the loss of $25.00 or so for a part that was so badly manufactured it is unusable, is this thread.

I already spent $25.00 of my time writing posts and calling Marstar asking where the part was prior to me recieving it. [and another $25.00 of my time trying to jury rig the part into a workable solution] , im not going to spend ANOTHER $25.00 of my time calling, explaining, begging for my money back..
That would take the tally for that reciever cover up to $100.00+
Time is money.
I am just doing my fellow CGNers a service by stating the cover "I" got was a POS.

If you had done a little research you would have found that the receiver and gas tube scope mounts as you put it are junk. It may look good hanging on the wall or laying on the table at the range but thats about it. The plain fact is they do not fit without modification and they do not hold a consistant ZERO. I would not blame Marstar, they are supplying a product that people want even though it is not the best product. If you want a mount that really works well check out SCOUTMOUNT..$59.00usd and CHOATE mount...$35.00usd

if you did YOUR research [and thread reading] you would have realised my complaint had SFA to do with keeping a zero, it had to do with the bolt jamming in the receiver.
Apples and Oranges.
The plain fact is.
Read before posting.
