Hello all,

I was looking to buy a crate of SKS ammo but was confused on what to buy. Is the accuracy better on the 1500 round Norinco 'non-corrosive' ammo (from leverarms), or the 1400 round pack of Russian ammo (from tradexx). I am assuming that both of them are 123 grains or so. I have seen accuracy reports from russian and china but not both on the same report. Any help or links to such compairisons would be appreciated ! :)

The SKS was never made for accuracy and I doubt you would see much difference unless you shot the ammo in a decent bolt gun with scope. If you get a 5 inch or better group with your SKS, then you are doing good.

This is it. You're not going to find a noticeable difference in accuracy between just about any 7.62x39 you buy in bulk. The only difference you might see is if you got some commercial brass cased 20 round boxes and compared them to surplus, but even then the difference wouldn't be worth it.

In my opinion when it comes to sks ammo, it's if you want it to be corrosive or not. Typically I have some of both. If I am taking a quick trip to the range and just want to fire off a few rounds, I bring non corrosive. If I am going to be going through a lot of it, or if it's really dirty from a few trips with the non corrosive stuff and it needs to be cleaned anyway, i'll bring the cheaper corrosive ammo and do a good cleaning of it when I get home.

Buy the cheapest and buy a lot of it.

Never bought non-corrosive 7.62x39 and never felt the need for it. My chinese copperwashed corrosive is plenty "accurate" for my needs

I think every SKS is particular, some will shoot ammo great that others won't at all.... Mine loves the LCW non corossive Ukrainian stuff.... BUT absolutely HATES Winchester non corossive. It also seems to really like this supposedly "non corrosive" Czech stuff I bought from Canuck tire. So moral of the story, your mileage will vary. Some ammos bad enough that everyone can pretty much collectively agree it sucks accuracy wise from their SKS .... MFS. Ammo falls under that category lol

Some SKS's shoot better with certain ammo over another type , no different than a 22 lr , some like Winchester and won't hit anything with another brand .

My sks like Romaine surplus .

You can turn up your SKS and some times get surprising accuracy at 100 yards ,,,,,,,,,,,with mil surplus .

Whichever you choose, you could pull a few boxes out and Mexican match them. IIRC, I found that rounds varied +/- 1.8 grains from case to case of Czech ammo. Evening that out should buy you some better accuracy.
