The ORA is hosting another fun shoot at Winona (the DND range in Grismby) on Saturday.

CGNrs are welcome to come and shoot whatever they want to play with. I am bring my Mosin Nagant sniper rifle. I know there will be some SKSs, a Garand, a few M14s, some Ar-15s and a K31.

We shoot at 100, 200 and 300 yards. You need 120 rounds of ammo, minimum, a rifle and ear protection. If you want to shoot your SKS at 100 and your Swedish Mauser at 200 and your AR15 at 300, that is cool.

Bottles of wine for prizes.

Set up and registration at 7:30. If you miss the safety briefing the RO won't let you shoot, so please don't be late.

I found that 660 Winston Road, Grimsby in your GPS will lead you to the range gate.

Did I get it right that there's no any registration in advance, I can just show up just before 7:30am to register for a day? I might have to work on 26th, but I don't know for sure yet. And another question - how long this event is going to take?

You got it right - no pre-registration. Just show up with $40, and a rifle & ammo. This is an easy way to have fun with your rifle. We see a lot of father-child combos, or husband wife. If you mark for each other, you can even share the same rifle.

We don't take a break for lunch, so are generally done around 3:00ish. Depends a bit on how may shooters there are.

Pack a sandwich and drink. The "deliberate" shoots give 10 minutes for the shooter to fire 10 shots, so the butt crew can sit down and enjoy a drink and bite during that break in their duties.

You get 5 minutes of unlimited practice shots at the start of each distance (100, 200 and 300 yards) to get dialed in. Each shot is spotted for you with a red plastic disk, so you know here you are hitting. A single shot rifle will work.

We shoot at a figure target, so I zero at 100 and then at 200 and 300 just figure out where to aim a bit higher. Typically at his hand at 200 and his nose at 300.

my dad and I are wondering about this. is there a reason why 120 ammo requirement or just a recommendation?
i hope we can make it on time, considering we would have to get up at 5 am for this. we are about 150 km away.

I suggest 120 rounds because that would be an absolute minimum to get through the program.

We shoot 3 matches of 10 shots each at 100,200 and 300 yards. That is 90 rounds.

There are two sighting shots before each mover match, one in each direction, so you can find out how much to lead the target. 6 rounds.

And you get 5 minutes of practice shots at the start of each distance. Say, 5 shots. (I shoot about 10.) 15 shots.
