SKS barrel marks

Hello all,
I recently received a 1954 Russian sks and i has a strange stamp on the barrel. I own 2 other Russians and a few friends do as well and we have never seen this mark before. Is it something new or just some do/some dont ?

Import markings.

These started showing up under the handgaurd on Mosin Nagants last August. The "dry" (no cosmoline) ones have these import marks. The "wet" (cosmoline) ones don't.

For Mosins there is a 4 sided polygon with rNC laser etched on the top side of the receiver tang. You can see this if you close the bolt. If you care whether this import mark is there (I don't) this is your clue. Sometimes the hand guard is tough to remove or the seller won't let you.

Ok thanks for the info. It's a shame they are doing this to mosins and pieces of history. This rifle was sold as "cleaned" and already in the aftermarket stock. It was definitely full of cosmoline so much so that the firing pin was seized. ...

MOLOT commercial markings & proof for civil sales/export. "Commercial" model marked as "OP SKS" These are marked as "hunting" arms to get around regs forbidding sale of military arms.
