Anyone know the barrel/receiver tenon thread size and pitch? Metric or SAE for Chinese or Russian?

I'm thinking of getting a worn out SKS and putting a good barrel on, bed it, tune trigger and see if we can tighten up the groups. :)

Its metric, can't help with the specs, though. Removing a barrel from an SKS can be fun.
Bedding does make a difference. A method not unlike that used on a M-1 or M-14 works.

Hey tiriaq, there might be a future for poor man hunting rifle yet.
I read in another forum that 1.5 MOA is obtainable with stock SKS's with good trigger, bullets and bedding. I know the next level is a better barrel. If nobody knows I'll just have to unscew one myself.
I'll have to design an action wrench to fit properly so the action don't get twisted.

The one SKS that I broke down had a barrel that was as tightly screwed in as any I have encountered. I might still have the barrel, will check, and if I do I'll measure the shank.
When the first brand new SKS came through the shop, I bedded it. It shot very well. The sights are coarse, and the trigger pulls tend to be heavy and long. There are ways of improving the trigger mechanism, although the design is quite different.
Its a bit of a silk purse out of a sow's ear situation, but when you are doing the work yourself, the cost is reasonable.

Amen to that bro. I cannot imagine anyone coming and say "Can you build me a match SKS?" Then again. ;)

Would be interesting to get a complete bubba and turn it into a tackdriver. Just time spent for me. I await those specs. :)

SKS barrel shank is M25x1.5
