I put a new A.T.I folding stock on my SKS, but I noticed that the Bayonet didnt fold up deep enough into the stock....and it would always Catch my hand. Most of the time I got a POKE from the bayonet. I also like the bayonet, so taking it off wasnt an option. Sooo,..I carefuly ground some of the under-side off so it would fit deeper, plus I took off that ugly silver paint and polished it on my buffer wheel.

Is the mag release extension easy to install??

I got mine at FRONTIER FIREARMS. $97.00 bucks. Comes with the extra block so you can make the stock swivell.

Why not just make the bayonet notch deeper?

Seems like it would be easier to do, and would leave you with a symmetrical bayonet...

Your right...sounds like a good idea......till you see how thin the plastic is...nothing really more you could cut out. You would be "through" the stock by the time the bayonet sat flush. Good comment.;)
