For those of you who have removed the front sight post, gas block, stock ring, and rear sight assy...Are these items just pinned in place or are they brazed/soldered in as well ?..

Cheers...R...

By all accounts, you will destroy the front sight block when you try to remove it. They are pressed on and very tight.

You might want a heavy duty harmonic balancer puller with some custom pieces made up at least to remove the front sight block, maybe with penetrant. They are sweated on with a good interference fit and pinned. The barrels are stepped, this eases things a bit. The barrel threads are on there with an interference fit as well. Even the pins are a bear to remove. I recall I had to drill out a front sight pin before I could laboriously tap the front sight base off with a hammer and a brass drift. It took forever because you want to be gentle with the part. I used penetrant. The gas block could be crusty. It should be a fun job.
