I took the bayonet off my SKS. I may put it back on at some point (If I can find the screw for it), but not likely.

I would like to put a bipod on the front, just for kicks. I like to build stuff (I'm poor, so it works well), and would like to make my own. Any suggestions? Pics?

My initial thought is a couple pieces of threaded rod with some kind of threaded shaft at the end to adjust the length, some kind of hinge mechanism, and a spring.

I want it to attach to the bayo lug, in case that wasn't obvious...

You could put a lot of time / effort into making perfectly good metal into scrap. I think there are a few good value bi-pods that work well with the SKS in either a barrel or lug mount (Frontier). I think I paid $19 for one, seems to work ok.

Has anyone compared accuracy after putting on a bayo mounted bipod? I would think it would throw your shots off with pressure being placed directly onto the barrel

I have yet to shoot my sks with the bayo mount bipod but I cant see why it would affect the accuracy anymore than just having the bayonet attached. Wheres the logic?
