Would it be a good idea to remove a black paint from an SKS bolt? (refurb imported by Bell) if yes what the best way you could suggest?

Thanks

i have never done this . but if the underside is painted then try there first . try using liquid , i have good success with circa 1850 (from homedepot ) with steelwool to remove old paint from wood stock.

That black paint comes should some off easy. I soaked just the bolt in 99% isopropyl aclohol for 30 minutes, and it was starting to eat the paint.
Word of warning to those cleaning SKS- bell black paint - be careful using solvents (like kerosene as recommended in the u-tube clip) as it MAY eat the paint. Try in a small inconspicious place first.

thanks guys. I didn't care if the bolt was painted black when I bought teh SKS. but after cycling the bolt just a few times the paint on top of the bolt got scratched to the bare metall...so I decided to try to remove it all (from the bolt only for now)
