SKS Bolt Hold Open Tab Missing

I have an SKS that was slightly modified, the bolt hold open tab went missing. I also have a Chinese SKS receiver kicking around. My thought is that I can just tap the pin out of the Chinese one and put the tab in the Russian one to get the hold open functionality back.

Any reason why this would not work?

it doesnt hurt to try it. the tab slides out after you move the spring.
