just got back from the range and it looks like the boss/
muzzle brake is gonna work. i know u don't need a brake
but i drilled the holes while i was at it. my rear sight apature was too big and the target was real fuzzy , old
tired eyes. BUT just moving the boss a 1/4 of a turn made
the groups move down -up- left ,ect. got to go make a bushing for the rear apature. will keep you posted.

Cool ,
tell me , at what range was that group ?
opps , that was only at 60 yds. i just made a .060
rear apature and that seems to make the target a lot clearer. next comes the job of fine tunning and thats the fun part. if only i could see better. ahhhh the golden years,
lots of time, no money, poor memery. winneie don't work,
and can't see. not neccesarily in that order.

Neat project BTW, keep us posted. :)
my bud Ric and i had an enjoyable afternoon at the range,
just the 2 of us. 5 shot group out of his sks with a scope
at 50 yd , 4" group 1 1/2" high. next 5 shot group with
bayonet extnded 2 shots at the very bottom on the target
and the rest below the paper on the carboard backing.
these targets are standard compute paper 8.5 x 11".
after clooling the barrel we removed the bayonet and the 5 shots were all off the paper on the bottom left hand corner. my boss system on my sks is still being tested.
i'm trying to think of a way to make a clamp on weight
for the end of the barrel that you could add a washer a
time and tune the barrel in to the ammo. thats all for now

Are you shooting from a bench with a solid rifle rest, or are you shooting offhand/standing?
my buddy was shooting of leather V shaped sandbags,
one under the forearm and one under the buttstock.
does the term wimmpy sks barrel sound familiar????
there are enough sks rifles out there that some one will
copy this experiment?????

Is the BOSS a tunable weight or an adjustable muzzle brake?

If adding a few ounces to the muzzle was the Magic Bullet for accuracy, wouldn't it have been popularized decades ago?

it is both a tunable weight and a muzzle brake. do a google search or check out brownnings web site for the
boss system. IIRC the boss works better on skinny barrels.
i just bolted a 1.125 x 1.750 weight on the plate that holds the front of the stock. hope to try that out in the next day or so
