Hi guys :]

I wanted to share my bubba project. I cannibalized spare SKS stock and added SVD style butt-stock to it.
If anyone done something like this before - will epoxy and wrist bolt be enough to hold it together or should I add 1-2 brass screws in wrist-bolt area?

Cool! Although epoxy is not good on wood. Wood glue is considerably stronger. But it looks like its already completed....so I would try it the way it is. Should still be strong enough.

Thanks guys :] Stock only got first 2 layers of shellac - I still can get couple screws in wrist area and file them down. Original stock finish was almost black with slight red tint. I tried to bleach it, but u see on the picture how dark was even after that. Right now there is still difference between 2 parts but it is not too bad. Stock is actually a lot darker than it appears on 1st picture - I'll try to get better picture later with proper camera. Buttstock made from 3 layers of birch plywood from home depot 11mm thickness.

Really nice looking stock... Looking at the design, id think it would most certainly hold up! its amazing how strong wood glue can be when carefully mated in interlocking wood, plus combine that with the bolt you added.... excellent work! someday, i'll have to make a stock like this for an SKS too. The SVD stocks are so ergonomic and red rifle looking, its hard to pass them by.

Thank you!
@warrenlikesboats, it was original wrist-bolt. I have used wood glue for layers of plywood, but epoxy for joint. I wanted bolt to be glued within stock and wood glue probably wouldn't do that.

What sort of tools did you use? Are you one of those fortunate types who's got access to a CNC?

...upon closer inspection looks like by hand....nice!

No bubba there! Well done. SKS's are so plentiful there's nothing wrong with "making one yours".

You should show Boyd's how it's done!

heh I wish :D If I had access to CNC I'd try to make whole stock.
I've used jigsaw, hand drill, few rasps/files, sand paper and $hitload of elbow grease

I think, I'm done :]

Still need to figure something out with buttplate too - not sure make it from flip-flop or metal.
