SKS Buffer

^^^^ What he said. SKS bullets are less than medium. Much less than medium. Don't waste your money, the result will not yield anything measurable.

In response to the OP, milarm and marstar carry a variation of the buffer technologies buffer that sits behind the long spring in the dust cover. According to some on this board, the buffer improves accuracy by limiting movement of the spring. I have one and can't confirm that. It certainly is in the wrong location to soak up the bolt's rearward momentum.

There is aother design called the blackjack buffer which puts a hard hunk of urethane in front of the receiver's bolt stop. These guys only ship to USA so if you want one you need a buddy in the USA.
I have one of these too. IMHO, there are three arguable reasons for using a buffer: 1. Prevent damage to the bolt stop over time, 2. Protect your scope from damage due to metal-metal impact, 3. Reduce zero change of scope, esp. for dust cover mount designs which is a big deal if you're tried one.
In answer to the inevitable reply that simonov didn't see fit to put one in the design, that was before extensive use of scopes or availability of impact absorbing urethane. For the original intent of the sks, they were not needed. However I have some money into my sks vortex scope, love shooting it, and have found it to be very accurate. Therefore, I always have the blackjack buffer in it.
Actually, I have machined a few of my own, since I think there's room for improvement, and hope to eventually post my results on this board.
Cheers

waist of money and may bend your take dowm lever pin "since the bolt is hitting the cover with the buffer installed, not the reciever"
