Can any one recommend a good cheekpad for a sks with a choate mount?

I'm all set to order the mount from sksman, but I'm not sure if I'll need the cheek pad, or what is best.

Comments?

I am also interested. I already purchased the choate mount from SMSMAN and a drill press from Canadian Tire when it was on sale. Now I just need a scope and cheek pad.

I'd just try a Tacpro Cheek rest, Not sure about installing on a wood stock myself though. I've only installed it on synthetic ones, but the process is the same, you just need to get the holes lined up properly. You can get them from Mystic Precision if he still has any in stock. Check out his website, the link is above ^.

There is no difference in the installation of a TAC PRO cheek rest on wood vs synthetic stock. The important part is getting the correct model of cheek rest for the thickness of your stock.

What size would you recommend for a standard SKS wood stock?

The TAC PRO cheek riser is to wide to fit properly over a russian sks wood stock.
I think a person would have to insert some type of wood shim or something to make it work.
It looks and works perfect on my M14 and I actually considered heating one up in the oven to see if I could reshape it to fit an SKS but never did.

The only thing I could find for my sks’s was the Blackhawk tie on one.
It works OK, but I would certainly prefer a bolt on one, but I’ve never been able to find one.

I bought two of them from optics planet a couple years ago.
I paid $16.79 each with $20.75 shipping cost, total $54.33

We have 3 models of cheek rest.

Model CR-M700 is for narrow, sporting style stocks up to 1.65" in thickness.
Model CR-700HS is for wider, sporting style stocks up to 1.95" in thickness.
Model CR-M14 will only fit the M14/M1 style stock and is not recommended for installation on any other rifle.

Just measure the thickness of the stock where it touches the shoulder to determine the correct model of TAC PRO cheek rest.

The optics planet ones look pretty good, actually.
Forgot to mention it, I shoot left handed. I think the tac pro can do that too. decisions....

Just keep in mind that the Tacpro are adjustable up and down. The strap on ones are one height and non adjustable.
