I am gonna come clean here, and say where I purchased my SKS..(the evil moregunssupply) ........before I knew he was a turd. I have to say, that
this gun is superbly made. Its heavy duty. Not at all like the civilian ones I have shot and handled. Those civilian ones had a trigger pull that was just like the break-action PELLET gun I had 25 years ago from china.
They were built , as stated before, in a chinese factory under Russian supervision. I am yet to see or handle a better one. I paid 139 for mine NEW.

I have both a rusian and a china model i love my rusky model its parts fit togeather much better and the action is smoother. The chinese one has the fire and forget crome linning, but having to put it togeather with a hammer is a royal pain.

I have both and have test both for accuracy. My Chinese shoots a bit tighter. I think the Russian looks a bit better.

If you take the bayo off, the rifle is quite light and handy as is. No need to change the stock.

As many others have said..i own 1 Russian and 2 Military Chinese and they all shoot really well and seem all equal in Quality....get one of each, you can't go wrong with an SKS as they are great Rifles.

Hey Guys,
Going for an SKS for sure. That Marstar deal is really tempting. Now is Russian really better than Chinese? Really? I've read some people say yes, others not...I just dont know anymore...Accuracy? Reliability? Please enlighten me...I wont be buying another rifle for a few year and Im not a collector, so I just want an decent rifle that's accurate and reliable.

RUSSIAN or CHINESE?

I bought a like new Izhevsk on the EE for $170, then I bought 3 Type 56's from Frontier Firearms (for $170 a piece, 2 as an investment, 1 as a toy).

Hands down, the quality on the Izhevsk model is much better than the Nork's. The wood is better and the action is smoother. I really can't comment on the accuracy between the two but if you can find a Tula or Izhevsk Russian one for the same price or cheaper than a Norc, I'd do it.

I will say a new Type 56 is very well coated in cosmoline, so if you're looking for an investment that you can put away in long storage - I'd say the Type 56 is a good choice.

If you want a great shooter and a gun you can modify (mounting scopes, etc) without guilt, the Marstar SKS wins.
If you want a gun that shoots well and you want to admire it's pretty bluing etc, get a Russian.
On price alone, the Chinese wins.
I have both and shoot the chinese more.
