Fiddling with an SKS today and decide to pop out the cleaning kit. Stick my finger in then WHAMM, cleaning kit hammers itself between my fingernail and stock channel and the little flapper locks my finger in place. After getting over the initial pain of the fingernail hit, I now had to get my finger out. Once all was better I tried a second time....same thing. I now have a purple spot on my index fingernail. That SKS will not be sporting a cleaning kit in the buttstock.

I'm glad I'm not alone :) Managed to do that to myself the last time I was showing a friend my SKS. Think I'm just gonna try to forget that it's there from now on. I need all my fingers.

Owch I have never had that happen on any of mine.. Although the first time I was cleaning my new Springfield M1 Garand I did not have the bolt fully locked back and it slammed home on my finger and made it go all kinds of purple lol.

For me getting the kit out is no problem but to get it back in I do use a screwdriver or cleaning rod to push it in there. Have had the bolt pinch my thumb pretty good when loading one at a time and accidentally released the bolt.

I have never had any troubles putting the kit back in, but i've had my fingers pinched a few times taking it out. I flinch more now cleaning the damn thing then i ever did shooting it

Do you have club like fingers, and tend to destroy everything you touch? Then maybe a Gras Rifle or Beaumont would be more suitable for you. (try and break it). :D
