SKS Cosmoline?

Hello Hi Cal!

I was going through your site and saw this description regarding your SKS's:

"We clean the external cosmoline off, so you dont have to!"


Maybe I'm nitpicking, but does that also include internal cosmoline? Like I can take the rifle straight to the range and start shooting?

Negative, striper' down and clean it ALL out including the firing pin, gas chamber, etc

When you go to the car wash and pay for an external cleaning, do you normally expect them to clean the inside of your car too?

use
degreaser
mineral spirits
scrub

then dry with air compressor
then oil like crazy

let sit and clean the stock
then rebuild.

the SKS is hard only the first time you take it apart, watch youtube there are lots of videos showing you how. follow the steps

its fun cleaning up your rifle and prepping it up so its nice again. I cleaned and stripped the stock of varnish on a SVT and SKS tonight actually. Will do up the stocks natural in true oil, makes them look awesome.

You should clean any gun regardless if new or cosmoline soaked.

Hot water and soap. Dry it and then put oil.

Always clean the internals as well, external just means your hands dont get quite as dirty when handling them......

Personally I'm the only one I trust to clean my guns, even if they're supposed to be ready to shoot. Should always inspect them yourself before first shots as well

Throw it in the dish washer and it'll be as good as new!
