Ok so I am just wondering if it makes sense to get the sks barrel crowned and then threaded to put a muzzle brake on it ? Or is it pointless to get it crowned if I'm going to thread the end of the barrel to put a muzzle brake on it ............ ?
Threading it should not affect the existing crown, no need to re-crown if the gun shoots well as it is. Just don't try to thread it with a wrench and die by hand, you will not get the threads straight. It needs to be done on a lathe.
Are you shortening the barrel or threading the stub in front of the front sight base? If you cut it, crown it. If you're not cutting it and the original crown is good then there's no point. And it does not have to be done on a lathe. And I didn't just make that up.
