I am curious, and do not have a D variant here to have a look. will the magwell parts off the Chinese D swap onto a Russian sks? whats diff in there that wouldn't swap?

its true . the "D" trigger assembly wont work either without the bolt hold area in the Russian milled out .

but if a guy had a milling machine and was decent with it? ive had the D before and disliked the Chinese quality. thought about swaping stuff over to a Russian , might not be that easy tho

I just swapped all the Chinese parts for Russian parts ;)

in that case , that guy should do a 100% Russian D .

Just do the ak mag retro,I think there a sticky up top for it. Yes the trigger group will pop in, but you need to weld a tab on the front of the reciever for the mag latch, and you do need to machine the sides of the reciever ( where the mag enter) to get the mag to go in far enough. Once you have done it, you'll never look back, great set up, they should have all come that way. There are alot of utube video on it, you can uses just to get an idea how it goes.

I like what you did and changed it over to a Russian but why would you?
I just received my SKS D today and it's in beautiful condition.
I couldn't imagine changing it over.
Don't get me wrong I am not criticizing you for doing so just want to know why.

Damn, was snooping around and hoping to find that I could throw a D group on my Russian SKS, keep it in my tapco stock and get some knew mags for it, get it out of the safe a little more often.
