SKS D model not holding mags?

Just traded away a lot of expensive junk to a gun store for a D model SKS.The mags wont stay in.WTF. anybody else had this problem?Dave

Can you post pics? That would help us help you. In my experience, metal mags worked fine with the SKS D, but the Bulgarian waffle mags I had, did not...

no problem with mine .... there isnt many new ones out there so im guessing your is used so someone bugged the mag catch.

we cant help with no pics and certainly need details of your problem or you would end up with too many variable.

eg of details: like the front catches OK but the back wouldnt catch or it would catch but a hard yank and it will come off . you get the idea .

I had trouble getting mine to release, but it turned out it was the mag not the releasing mechanism, try another mag!!!

My mag was loose (sitting too low) and the bolt wouldn't strip a round off the top. I was able to put some weld on the tab on the back side of the mag. I then filed off the extra.

Maybe you just need to file the tab a little?

Do you have a paddle or slide catch mag release? I bet you have a slide, right? If so, that's your problem. The slide catch was a poor design to hold AK mags, I've heard of lots of problems.

I'm not sure - I've seen both called a SKS-D. Maybe so, All I know is the ones with the slide release seem to only work with the short AK mags. 5/30 rounders are a no go...

I had one and sold it quick.

Get rid of it if you have that model. It is useless...

Yep thanks Johnny taking it back to the Gstore tommorow.It is the slide release mc-5d model.What a piece of carp.Dave.

Mine is a little finicky also, i have to give it a good shot with my hand to make sure it catches properly.
