I was duck hunting with a guy and when I told him I had a SKS-D for a lead thrower he offered me two mag's that he had kicking around his safe from when he had an SKS-D. Gladly I took them and when I arrived at home and pulled out my Norinco SKS-D they would not fit:confused:

The front cleat would seat but the rear lug would not engage the mag release and even if I held it in place it was too low to feed a round into the chamber.

Is this a SKS-D Mag or something else.......if so any idea what it is? Were there several different mag designs for the SKS-D depending on who manufactured it?

I have images of the mystery mag (empty) beside my SKS-D mag (with rounds) that came with my rifle.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Looks like one of the many zillions of aftermarket SKS parts that may or may not work when you get them home.
Or possibly for a specific line of modified rifles that fit just those magazines, and had different magazine wells then your SKS D.

Or better yet...try to get a vz52/57 to go with the mag'. :D

I go through that all the time: I find a reloadable cae in 7.62 x 39 at the range and then I realize I need a rifle to go with it!!!:D :D

It's a vicious circle I tell ya!

I have 3 guns in my collection that I've had ammo for long before I bought them. It seems that if someone comes along and gives me a box or two of ammo I have no use for, within a year I have a firearm chambered for it.

I should go out and get a box of .25 auto and 32 ACP and maybe magicaly within the year they won't be 12-6 any more ;)
