Hey fellow CGN'ers!

I would like to know if some SKS-D's come with the SKS-D markings? My friend has one and it says that so I wanted to see what everyone else thinks. yes, I did try to Google it but I haven't been able to find anything because all the current links I have clicked on does not show the SKS-D marking on it.

Also, I noticed that many different AK mags exist, but do they all fit the SKS-D? Sorry if this is a lame question but im new to this and want to be up to speed on this type of rifle.

I bought a" D" years ago that is marked "D" but there were a huge amount of cheaper D models brought in later that had birch stocks, poor construction but CHEAP! I bought a case at I think $65. each, they came with a rubber recoil pad and 5 round mags, mags didn't lock in well, not a good example compared to the originals. Still got my good one but cheapies are all gone.
 
I never found an AK mag that didn't work in mine, just bought them as I came across them.

Not sure about the markings. When I got mine there was no internet, so the idea these things could be "figured out" never crossed my mind at that time!

Mine was anything but "cheap" construction, it worked very well and was far more accurate than others I owned. I hear there was some QA/QC issues but you find that in US made stuff too.

Edit: I did pass mine on after I picked up an 858. The bolt hold-open and general handling of the 858 I found to be far and above the "D" and just couldn't see the old girl getting much use after that.

Thanks guys! Im looking for one and most of the ones I saw look really nice and they say they are VG condition. Its still a collectors so im pretty pumped about buying one!
 
Just don't pay current EE prices for one. They are NOT worth $700-800 as sellers would lead you to believe, at best they're a $400 gun and even that's pushing it. I mean really, you can get a brand new Chinese SKS with a fixed mag of the same capacity and ability to actually use stripper clips, for $169.

Even a serious collector should be balking at these guns going for what sellers are presently asking!
 
Yeah, seems like everywhere I look they are asking for 700+... its fricking insane!! I guess its the "cool" factor that they take AK mags and are rare
 
Mine was alright but not as cool as people play them off to be, traded it for a cz 858 which I then sold for cash, then bough my target rifle with said cash.. Best deal ever
 
Which is 10 bucks more than they sold for new in the 90's!
I had one, it was ok but not worth the $425 I paid for it. It came with a couple mags, a scout scope mount and vented handguard. Theyre good if you want to scope an SKS without a dinky Chinese scope that breaks 3 times a week. They are part of Norincos commercial line of SKS built specifically for the civilian consumer market. Parts guns assembled with NOS and new parts that lack quality.

I got one recently for $350 with 2 10 round and 1 30 round mags .
And it does not say (D) it is a Beta Arms INC L.A CA. USA inport.
I think it came to Canada after they were band in the states.
 
I bought mine 2 or 3 years ago when $425 was the high end for a bone stock good condition D, $350 was the happy medium number that sold quick. For the prices being asked nowadays, you'd be much farther ahead with an 858.
 
the only markings on mine say norinco and beta arms in CA brought it in along with 88**** (see below)

150yrds she will hit a 6inch target 4/5 times standing with irons. the one thing i dont like is the stock is so soft your eyes leave imprints on it so i put my tapco and a prebuilt tube on it.

I was mad when i bought for 495 but i got over it when i saw what other are selling for.
