SKS done right? what you think?

Not hatin, just tired of seeing Facebook-esque "check out my stuff" posts over and over when it's just another bone stock, Tapco'ed SKS. There are so many of these guns in Canada now and it seems every second owner feels the need to share it with us here, which pushes other more interesting stuff off the first page. Nothing personal.

Let's not stomp out the enthusiasm of new shooters. Just a few years ago I was doing the same thing with my first rifle - a tapco'd SKS. I've seen it a million times by now, but I still try to be supportive as it may be new to the OP. I know it isn't that original nor is it difficult, but when it's your first kick at the can, it can be very exciting.

Nobody #####es when someone posts a pic of the same old bone stock sks they just bought. Everyone (myself included) says "nice one".
Then someone posts a pic of a tapco job or whatever and the rude comments start

To be honest I like the tactical ones... and the regular ones. Not sure why it has to be one way or the other :/
I just like seeing pictures of peoples setups no matter what they are!

I like the stock and forward-mounted optic. I do see issues with it being on the gas chamber.

Personally, the bayonet is one of my favourite features on the SKS. Tacticool or not, I keep all mine attached.

Bipods don't work for me unless I have high magnification on my scope, and they don't help in handling the bayonet. Your shooting style may differ.

Nice SKS, I'm a big fan of Tula.

Yeah, my first gun was a chinese SKS.
I immediately tapco'd it out, every accessory I could I put on.
Then I got around to refinishing the original stock because it came damaged.
Now I've got it stock, refinished and perfect.

The only thing I miss is the slightly quicker follow-up shots I could pull with the pistol grip. Kicks a touch more in it's original stock.

You asked for opinions, can't be upset people's opinions happen to be negative. A little bit of work done there, it's interesting. Other than the bipod it looks like most other ones. It's hard to take the optic seriously as the gas tube has too much wiggle. The buttpad, I mean, comes across as a sissy pad. Unless your 6'6 the tapco stock should have enough length of pull, and to say there's much recoil to an sks is like saying 22lr kicks like a mule. I'm sure it's fun and that's what counts, but it's not really exciting. Keep playing with it man, or just stick to what works for you. I did up a sks in a tapco stock once, then realized the cz 858 was a better home for that kind of money.
