Uh-oh!

The biggest problem with "Duckbill mags" is not from the concept, it comes from the fact that the conventional SKS' bolt has two lateral grooves on each side at the bottom in which the magazine lips ride.
This insures the magazine feeding lips are at the right height at all times and makes it impossible to reassemble the unit if the magazine well isn't properly seated.
When trying to insert a "duckbill" mag with the action closed the mag lips will be squashed against the bottom of the bolt.
You'll have to retract the bolt fully and keep it there while inserting the mag and this requires three hands.
If you have access to a machinist, you can ask him to scallop the bottom sides of the bolt to allow passage for the mag's lips. Just compare your bolt with the one from an SKS type"D" and you'll see.
All in all, there is NO benefit trying to affix a 30/5 duckbill mag: it is awkward, functions so-so, quality is often lacking and you'll get faster and safer reloads with a stripper clip than with those contraptions.
Good luck!

Unfortunately all they offer is some LCF (look cool factor). If thats what you want then by all means go for it.

And the first time you go prone in any zealous fashion you will wish you had a standard mag...same goes for walking through dense brush, etc.

Alright, thanks guys, I can always count on your opinions, I think im gonna go the the SKS D, just cause they can ue the AK mags and they actual function good, thanks again.

A note on the D. I had trouble with the chinese mags not being up to snuff. If you can get a euro mag either 20 or 30 are fun.

Silly me make sure they are pinned so you don't make your gun illegal.
