SKS Ergonomics

I never even shot my SKS in it's original stock.. I bought an ATI stock right away.. The original looked like it was for a 5 year old... lol

To be absolutely honest, I found it too short as well.

Solution: Duct tape!!! bunch it up into the shape of a recoil pad then duct taped it onto the stock. No problems after that. Comfy too!

Yup T-shirts can't be to popular in -40 Russian winters.
Also Chinese folks back in the 1950's were not very big people.

With the original stock, I find a modified shot gunner stance helps.
ie...keep ones right elbow raised enough to form a shoulder cup for the butstock. Your mileage may vary.

I have short arms, I find it perfect! Not to many rifles I don't wish were shorter, :D . Take my AG52B for instance, what the heck did they feed those swedes? There knuckles must have dragged on the ground, or they where all 7' tall.

So have Chinese people grown since the 1950's ?????????????

He'd scrunch all up, fire, miss, fire, miss and then just extend the bayo and hurl it into the charging lion.

I find it too short, and adding a 1" rubber pad helps a lot but I usually don't put it on. I figure it was made short for a reason, so I will keep it that way. Other than that I have no problem with the the "stock" configuration. My SKS's stock is pretty thick, with nice deep finger grooves, which I like. However my friend's SKS has a pretty thin stock with shallow finger grooves and I don't like it at all.

OK so they get wider . I didn't think there arms would be longer . lol

Beijing - China as a nation has grown in stature since unleashing its economy more than two decades ago but so have its people, who are getting taller, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Chinese children are an average 6 cm (2.34 inches) taller and roughly 3 kg (6.6 pounds) heavier than they were 30 years ago, Xinhua said, citing a report released by the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

The average height of six-year-old boys grew from 112.3 centimeters in 1975 to 118.7 cm, according to the survey conducted in 2005.

Girls averaged 117.7 cm tall, 6.2 cm more than in 1975, the survey said. The survey has been conducted every 10 years since 1975.

China's people suffered from decades of privation, but have seen incomes and nutrition blossom more recently.

The survey polled 138,775 children in urban and suburban areas of nine major cities, including Beijing and Shanghai.

The average weight of boys in 2005 was 21.7 kg, up 3 kg from 1975, while girls averaged 20.8 kg -- 2.7 kgs heavier, Xinhua said.

Being better fed has brought problems, however, including an alarming rise in obesity -- once unheard of in China -- and related illnesses such as diabetes.

Health officials have blamed the problem on reduced consumption of grains and vegetables in favor of more fatty junk foods.

Saturday's report pointed out some adjustments made necessary by China's growth spurt, including Beijing's move this year to raise the height under which children get free public bus rides.

Despite the better nutrition in cities, countless children in China's still-backward rural areas suffered from malnutrition, the report noted.

Like modern Japanese families I know several Chinese families were the Canadian raised and fed kids tower above their China raised parents, and esp' their Grandparents. :D

I dunno, the stock seems fine when you bump fire from the hip ;)

I'v only ever got a 3 round burst total. Bump firing is fun, but frowned upon by many, sometime though regardless I will try to do a full 5 rounds, in a safe location like a sand pit of course.

We should just be allowed to own FA'S In the first damn place. Nothing wrong with a higher rate of fire, a firearm is a firearm and you need to respect them all equally.
