Is there on the market any properly fitting external magazine for the SKS preferably made of metal ? I'm getting tired of that tapco junk that has to be filed/modified, has a miserable fit and fails to feed every 3 or 4th round. I like the SKS, its internal magazine works well but it drives me nuts to be able reload only when empty. I realize this issue would be much less significant if the whole mag system wasn't canibalized by max. 5 rounds but it is.
Thanks for any input.

I bought the metal 5/30 round mags and they work great for me. You can get them from a few different places, but I found Wolverine had the best price.
have you had any malfunctions at all? i just bought one from wolverine, so i hope it works well...I looked at some reviews and appearently some types of ammunition are like 1mm longer and they get lodged, and block the follower after 20 or so rounds, because of the length of the cartridge, and the mid section of the curved magazine is not as wide due to the way the sheet metal is folded, so the rest of the rounds will just jiggle and fall out...a non issues for us canucks, but i have not been able to find a review of feeding reliability aside from that.

i would like some metal 5 round only, or 5/10 mags...do those exist? i've only seen the promag synthetic ones.

Sorry for hijacking your thread IMR4320...here's link if you haven't made your way there already
