So I got my new (to me) Chinese fiberglass stock. There's a couple things I can't decide on.
One; whether or not to paint it. Being that it's a military stock, a part of me does not want to mess with the originality of it.
Two; if I was to paint it, I have no idea what color to paint it.

Any thoughts?

Hey oneone,
If you decide to paint your Jungle stock i would
suggest using Krylon Fusion. I did mine in Hunter
green. Google Krylon Fusion, they have a color
chart, they also have a new camo Fusion paint.
Pre-fit before painting. Either way, painted or not,
the are a cool stock. esque

Finely figured the pic think out. I added the cheek rest and grip (home made fiberglass
parts) and finished with Krylon Fusion Hunter Green.

^ That's a great job man. It definitely makes me want to refinish mine.

On another note, maybe you can help me with another question about my fiberglass stock. If you notice on my picture, I don't have the opening above the mag where I'm assuming there is a crossbar that goes along the inside.

Is this going to be problematic? Any insight you can offer? Thanks again.

oneone,
I can't tell from your pic. Are you talking about
the cross bolt? A pic.of the area in question
would help.

esque,
Yes, I'm referring to the cross bolt, my new stock doesn't even have a hole for it. Wierd. I'll post a clear pic tomorrow (camera is at work).

oneone,
There several variations of the Jungle stock, fiberglass, synthetic Bakelite type,
side sling swivel, bottom u swivel etc. Yours is the first i've seen without the
crossbolt. Does your stock have a notch or shoulder where the flat on the bottom
of the barrel lug and bottom front of the receiver would seat ?

Wow, I didn't know there were that many variants. I put the stock on the rifle tonight, and it fit very well. The stock seems to have a little bit of a shoulder, but I'm not sure if it's "enough". I took some better pics tonight.

oneone,
It looks like the shoulder is there. After installing receiver and before installing
mag, look from the bottom, the flat on the barrel lug and front bottom of the
receiver should make solid contact with the stock at that point. There should
zero movement front to rear and from side to side. If there is movement,
shimming or bedding will be required. Good luck......................................

esque,
Bad news (sort of)....It looks like the flat on the barrel lug doesn't make contact. There is no up/down or side/side movement, but there is a VERY little amount of play front to back. If I were to guess, it seems to move about 1/16" or less. From what I can see, the factory stock (wood) fits much better into the stock ferrule on the barrel. The fiberglass stock doesn't "fill" the ferrule. I hope that makes some sort of sense. I'm not sure which way to go with it. Some shimming of some sort is in order. Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated. Here's a couple pics anyways.
