Anyone know which way is upside down and which is the proper way to put the firing pin?
I've searched the threads but cant seem to find anything.
My sks is a late model SKS-D.
Ok, the way I know on mine is by the scuffs on top of the pin. If you look close at the flat part on either side of the pin, one side probably has a bit of wear on it from the retaining pin rubbing against it. The side with the wear goes up (just think, the retaining pin will be rubbing against it, so that is the up side). That may sound complicated without any pics, but that is how I do it and it has always worked.
-Be sure to test it before you load any ammo into the gun though.

See what firing pin resembles yours, then install it how it is shown in the pic, and it should be the correct side up. Again, test it to make sure, it should rattle around...
