sks firing problems

I had a problem with my SKS getting a broken shell jam every 20 rounds and a misfire every 10. A smoothing of the chamber, a new gas tube, and a new firing pin (I think it was from Wolf...been a while), the one with the spring attached seemed to eliminate all the problems. Hope this helps with your situation.

Finally I'm not the only one with this SAME problem. Mine is a chinese SKS-D. I just got my russian one from SIR this week. I was thinking that if it shoots well I might swap out the bolt and firing pins to see if that is the problem. I'm not sure if that is possible??

I am working at the moment and reading the fourms on my blackberry (not the most user friendly way to do it). I will search for my thread I started and maybe something in there will help you. To this day I have not fixed the problem and it driving me NUTS.

Weak hammer spring would be my guess if it works fine with commercial ammo but not milsurp. Certainly NOT a common problem with SKS's, but not unhear of either. Pretty common with commercial rifles however.

My thoughts exactly.

I took out my Russian sks and my Chinese one. I swap whatever parts i could and the Chinese d model did the same thing every time. I thought then that maybe the hammer spring is weak but was not sure if that is possible.

So my next question...Is it possible to replace just the hammer spring? or do i have to replace the whole trigger assembly. Where would one look for those parts?

Thanks

DO NOT SWAP THE BOLT OR PARTS FROM YOUR "D" MODEL WITH A NORMAL "SKS" IT IS DIFFERENT and yes I know I'm yelling!
