Bought a '53 Tula SKS while back and finally got round to sighting it in.

Bought an adjustment tool on amazon and it works great.

Only issue I'm seeing is I can't push the front sight any more to the left and my groups are still slightly off centre to the left. (Push sight left, POI --> to the right)

Anyone face this issue? Is it possible to start over centre front sight and adjust rear sight?

Thanks in advance and apologies if this is wrong spot to post.

This might sound a bit extreme, but you might want to JB Weld the notch in the rear sight and hacksaw a new one just a tad to the right.
Lot less effort than reindexing and repinning the front sight/ bayo mount.
HiCal's got replacements cheap if you screw up.

Thanks for the input everyone.

All methods seem rather drastic. Is this a product of the refurbishing?

It is a product of mishandling, being abused at some point in it's life. Try using a drift pin to nudge the sight over just a little more than the adjustment
tool is capable of achieving. One of my SKS has the front sight pushed all the way over until it almost touches the side of the hood.:d

Push the pins out that hold the front site on the barrel. Then rotate the site assembly so it's not canted. Re insert your pins then off to the range and adjust the site normally as needed

Barrels can be bent by placing it between the Y fork of a tree and pushing on the receiver. It is not an unusual technique in the shop.

An SKS is the perfect barrel to learn in...

One of my SKS seems to be bent downward, so that I needed to extend the sight post by a whole inch in order to get it on target. I'm going to follow
Ganderite's suggestion in order to gain experience for when I accidently bend a rifle while out in the bush on a long prospecting trip.

I finally tried to sight in my norinco sks. I ran into the same problem, Shoots way right. Looking closely, my front sight is canted. What is the proper way to correct this? I called a gunsmith and he didnt believe me and was sure I was the problem. The more I think of it, the angrier I get lol.

Without seeing pictures, I too am wondering if you are correct in your assessment of the sight being canted. It is possible that it was installed badly
but then the pin holes shouldn't line up? I have bought a few used rifles that had the front sights adjusted all the way over but then found that the
sight needed to be put back in the center, which makes me wonder if some people try to use the sights to compensate for their own peculiarities.

Whats the best way to get a photo to show the cant?

It's hard to see in person, not that it can't be done..... pun intended

Get the rifle propped up in shooting position and then take a photo from the viewpoint that the shooter's aiming eye has. Any cant should be apparent.

Ok
Ill see what i can do tomorrow
I hope it doesnt have a cant now!
Apppreciate the help

Edit
I think it was actually shooting left not right
Was a few months ago

Alright,

taking this photo is very difficult for some reason haha,

It is apparent though that the front sight leans to the left,

Which is way my front sight post is adjusted way left

Ill try to get better pics, but I don't think its apparent without a level or something in the photos.

When I hold it up to my eye its obvious, I think when taking the photo I level it with my arm??

As a side note, the lower part of my stock is very loose. I tried tightening it? but it seems as if the screw doesn't take and 'slides' off.

BTW its apparent I know little about sks's.

Ive had this for ten years and just now am starting to get interested in it after purchasing a peep sight.
