I am trying to get the front sight block off a Chinese surplus SKS. The pins are out. I have sweet talked it, tapped it, hit it, cursed it, heated it with a heat gun and hit it, heated it with a propane torch and hit it. Then cold blue repaired the ding i put in the barrel.

My next two possible moves are a flaring tool and a gear puller or a Dremel tool relief cut down the side of the sleeve of the sight block but i run the risk of marking the barrel in the process. Then out comes the cold blue, again. I don't have any buddies with a shop press unfortunately.

Other suggestions?

I made adapters to use a bearing puller to remove Ross Rifle front sight bases.
Sounds as if you are considering the same approach. Works nicely on Rosses. Make a plug to protect the muzzle from the puller's jackscrew.

Were are you located as the easiest way would be to direct you to a gunsmith who has the proper tool's to do such a job.
