So I've just recently got into the world of the Red Rifles by buying a Russian SKS (1955/56 Tula as far as I gathered from the registry thread, no real markings on it except the serial no. and a star). Just wondering how you guys clean the crud of the face of the gas piston? I read the sticky on cleaning (great "manual" for disassembly!) and either missed or didnt see anything really about taking of the burnt on powder. I've thought about a small brass wire brush but I don't want to damage any parts of it. So far I've been using my thumb nail and slowly scraping it off.
