I recently put BCTactical Scout Mount on my SKS and mounted a TRS-25 to the rail. It works great but spent cases are hitting the scope and dinging it pretty badly. I'd like a deflector but until I get some detable mags, I still need top access to load.

I was just wondering if anyone has done the gas tube porting mod and if they'd like to share their experiences.

Spent Casings

No need to mess with the gas tube.

Time to get out your rotary tool and a tungsten carbide cutter. See the following link and head to post #60. Full credit to the author (forgot his name right now).

A few minutes and you are good to go.

I had seen the ejection port mod. I'd probably massacre the port. And I'm not convinced that mod would change anything. Have you guys tried this mod with positive results?

Yup. I did. Gas tube mod for not so heavy slam and not throwing all over the place, but what really works to throw them out sideways is the ejection corner cut...its not a massacre, works like a charm, even if you take more off than you have to.There are some youtube vid posts that show the difference and clearly how it improves in a 200 times slower rate.

The ejection port mod has been around for years. I first seen it on a Russian form and it made it's way here on CGN. The mod is easy to do and works great every time. The brass is ejected 90 degrees straight out.

i try the ejection mod , just shoot some bullet to see and it seem to work nicely ! before i grind the corner , the corner has some mark of the case ejection , confirming they are hitting this

I made a gas regulator for my SKS by drilling a set of holes at the front of the tube and making a regulator for it. It barely lobs the casings out at lowest setting but still would probably hit a scope as it still goes up at about a 75 degree angle.
