I just bought a Tapco kit for my norc sks. I decided to get the matching tapco gas tube so that I would not have to try and punch out the pin and mess with that stuff.
Now the problem I have is the gas tube piston from my sks won't fit in the tapco tube...
I found this statement on a website "NOTE: Occasionally, the SKS gas piston may NOT fit inside this Tapco Gas Tube with Handguard. However, modification to allow fitment is very minor, please call us for details regarding this."

Does anyone know how to modify the piston to fit?

The other option would be to buy the tapco piston made for this but I can not find one for sale in Canada.

Or I guess my last option is to try and punch out that pin and use the original tube, though this seems like a waste as I already bought the tapco tube.

Thanks for any help.

It's a thought but I suggest buying another piston and modify it. The thinking is if you modify the original piston it might not work properly if you wish to revert to original.

Just pop the pin, it saves you allot of trouble in the long run. Replace it will a roll pin. You can also use a finishing nail and peen the one end.

The kit should have some with 2 new pins for the new gas tube cover... Just switch the cover. If you have basic tools and a vice (or a friend to hold it) its fairly simple.
