In the winter it's fine to shoot at clay pigeons but now with Summer
the grass makes them hard to see and I'm going to be buying
a steel Gong from Arntzen Targets and hang it from a sheppards
hook. The question is what size would you buy keeping in mind you
cant shoot it closer than 100 meters without damaging the steel and
or risk loosing a eye.
(I can hit clay pigeons at 82 yard with a support)

We dont have many places to shoot long distance in the Ontario forests/
Crown Land so people from Alberta are banned from replying to this question
plus they are all Rich Oil Tycoons that can afford scopes which is not how the
rest of us live.

If you know anyone who has a construction company our range used a worn out excavator claw tooth as a gong for a while. It was about 6"x8" front on

Back in mother Russia everyone use steel cover from sewer hole.

Then people in city fall in sewer with great injury and unwanted interaction with sewage. We laugh! Is nice!

Then put video on Internet of crippled sewer man yelling "Вэр йз ковэр фром хол! Асхолс таък фор пурпос оф шут СКС!"

beauties . where di u get the slings ??

hey thanks for the compliment, my Russian came with the full army issue compliment
ammo pouches, oil/solvent bottle and the sling from Al Simmons in Hamilton,Ont.
My Chinese came without a sling and I ran into them at Ganon in Oshawa, Ont
it was $1.99 plus tax.

Enjoy your SKS they are so much fun especially after you get the length of pull figured out.

Macaroon, sounds like plan, can you use this method to catch the female species
or do they turn into Mermaids and swim away?

We "rich oil tycoons" who are employed by the Royal Canadian Armed Forces sometimes have to take the lids from #10 cans, stack 100 of them together, run a bolt through the centre and a wire through one edge. Hang them from a a 2x4 saw horse. They spin good. If we don't want the spin, then we use two wires. But, that's 'cuz we're so rich. Poor folk in Ontario have to resort to buying the commercial made gongs.

BTW, I use pieces of 1" thick steel I bought at a welding shop a LOOONG time ago. Two 6", 0ne 8", one 10". Laid my hands on a 24" pipe flange cap that I can barely lift.

Thanks for sharing your creation but it sound like you need a pick up truck to haul it around.
I need to trim down my load as it stands already and am going to start with one Sheppard
hook and one 6" plate of AR500 Steel.

I'm going to lie low due to the fact that I'm getting a lot of speeding tickets/demerit points
on this forum and I dont want to loose my driving licence.

Adios Nutters.
