SKS - greasing trigger group

Just got my SKS last night and I want to get it ready for the range.

Can I grease my trigger group without taking it apart? What parts exactly should I be greasing?

Without taking the trigger group out of the riffle or completely appart?

Take the whole group out of the rifle and you will see the friction points well. Use gun oil :)

Use water proof grease.
Grease sides of sear in the rails.
Were the rebound disconnector and the hammer meet.
That's it.

So any water proof grease will work? I have a tub of wheel bearing grease...is that good?

You all know how it works

If it slides grease it, if it pivots oil it

So I should be greasing where the bolt slides back and forth? Sorry, this is my first gun so I really don't know much...

Use oil it seems to work for every army in the world lol

If you start taking things apart you may just screw something up. Its easy to bend the trigger axis pin when hammering it back in "causing your trigger to feel choppy"

OK will do. I didn't plan on taking it apart as I didn't want to mess with that pin. I was thinking grease would lube it a little better as it feels real rough right now.

I grease the grooves on the bolt and the grooves on the sear but not the entire receiver cover area :)

it feels real rough right now.

Lube alone wont get rid of the roughness. It's caused by tool marks on the sear rail surfaces. Two ways to fix that are, disassemble and stone the engagement surafaces, or get some snap caps and dry-fire until your trigger finger falls off.

Mine felt significantly better after 500 or 600 cycles.
I was bored.;)
