I recently bought a Chinese SKS and am thinking of putting in a hammer spring and trigger kit along with a recoil buffer. Do these kits make a difference or is it so slight that there not worth the money and effort? I also picked up a pin on muzzle break but am not sure if I want to put it on and not be able to use the pig sticker, not that it has any functional use it just looks cool. Does the muzzle break make any difference? I haven't fired it yet but I am use to larger caliber and blackpowder rifles. Kick is not a concern I am more interested in operation improvements. I'll appreciate any advice you can give me

I did the trigger job on 2 of mine by basically smoothing out the metal contact surfaces between the sear and wherever it rubs against. Did it mostly with 1000 grit sandpaper. Eliminated the roughness felt during trigger pull. Also slightly shaved the front portion (angled area) of the sear to reduce trigger creep. Finally, installed a set of Wolff hammer and sear springs purchased from Murray's. Very happy with the end result!

My experience...
Recoil buffer is all hype. Does nothing for recoil, it's supposed to prevent carrier from hitting the rear of tha action but can cause short stroking.
IF shooting milsurp ammo and you put in either a spring load FP or a lighter hammer spring, expect FTF where you can rechamber and fire the rd the second time. IF you are shooting commercial ammo the spring fp and reduced tg spring should be fine.

Clean and polish up the inside of the bolt/fp channel and the fp. Clean after every use, make sure it rattles and you are good to go.

I replaced my disconector due to hideous trigger/sear engagement. Trigger bar was barely clearing the channels in th TG so look at your tg bar to sear engagement. TG bar should clear those channels and only touch the sear when bolt is locked down. Just look through the little hole on the left side of TG and you can see the engagement.
