I shot my first 3 gun match on the weekend with the sks being the rifle and I was surprised the the old carbine could hold its own. My example is not very accurate even by sks standards about 5 inches at 100 yards off a bench with surplus ammo. But on the tactical rifle portion all targets were within 50 yards. From standing shooting through the port A zone hits were about 4 inches by 6 inches. So the accuracy level of an sks was not really a hinderence. The only real disadvantage is that there is no way for a tactical reload. You need to shoot dry before topping up. This adds some time. However the reliablity of the SKS certainly made up this shortcoming.
I saw many failures throughout the course with a variety of wonder guns however I did not experience one. My point in this post, if you all you have is a 100$ sks for a three gun match. Go and have fun you won't be outgunned.
