Hi guys, I want to buy a cheap plinker. But I am also interested in looking at the gun at hand before shooting.


Where would you guys suggest going for an SKS in Calgary? I did not see any around last time I was in town but I wasn't looking.

Calgary shooting center currently has russian sks, some with bbq paint, some of the nice blued ones. I was handling one particularily nice one two days ago, likely a Ukrainian left over not snapped up yet. Go check them out asap before they are gone.

CT on MacLeod was the only place I saw them in town, I recalled them as a little expensive. Maybe prices have gone up since I was last interested in an SKS.
 
Interesting the only milsurp they had last time I was there was a pretty gnarly looking k-31.

What is the price if you noticed?

Was that recently Shawn, my brain is saying 200 something.
 
Thanks for your replies guys, looks like the good ones are gone at the shooting center. 200 bucks a pop for what's left. They do have some nice looking k-31's though.

Didn't see any at wholesale, but by then I kept thinking about the on sale Savage mk II 22 LR at Canadian tire. Ended up buying it as my new plinker.

Will wait for the gunshow and see if I can find a decent sks or m44 that has the gloop cleaned off it
 
They took my PAL info. I don't really care.

Unless Canadian Tire is a shadow player in an imminent gun grab of bolt action .22's by the govmint
