For a few weeks I had been trying to buy an SKS (I found one, this isn't the point of the thread).

I had heard from an employee of the store I purchased my SKS from that the shipment (that was supposed to be distributed to the stores down here) was taken by the CFs and is sitting at Base Borden or Trenton, I don't remember which. It was around 20 crates of SKS' from what I was told.

The employee of the store said the information came from the importer.

Has anyone heard anything to back this up? Why would the CF want these?

The only backup I have on this is that the store I wanted to buy an SKS from (Al Simmons) had been expecting their shipment for weeks. I was told by the other store that it wasn't coming (they had been expecting a few crates as well).

Insight into this is appreciated.

I can't see why the CF would intercept a shipment of SKS's. CBSA would be the ones stalling the import.

That's what I said to the guy at the store. I was told they were in the country (imported successfully) but the CF has the shipment.

The would have had to pass customs. Is it possible that the CF bought them all from the supplier?

Is the CF given first "dibs" on anything that comes in to the country?

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, hence the post on the forum...

Hmmmm........... personally I'd call BS on the CF having them. CBSA is the most likely culprit but you know if you haven't heard a good rumour by noon...........start one! :D

I'd be calling 'bs' on that one! Source another supplier!!!

Lots of site sponsors have the sks in stock!!! Russian, Chinese & even Yugo!!!

Cheers

I don't see why the forces would be interested in a bunch of obsolete Soviet rifles, even if they were going to supply them to a third party, AK's would probably better and cheaper.

With that said, stranger things have happened. I do doubt it, though.

Not the store, the stores supplier (whomever that is, I don't really know how it works).

The store I bought mine at had a couple but was saying the shipment of new ones they were expecting was taken. They didn't seem positive that they were going to receive the order.

Anyway, I am going to keep checking the first place I was going to buy one at to see if they come back in stock. They kept telling me "they are coming next week" for 3 weeks, that's why I went elsewhere and how I came about the information. The first place kept saying that they were in the country and that they were on the way.

Time will tell.

The CF doesn't just go shopping like that. There's a very long beurocratic process filled with red tape when it comes to procurement.

Why would the CF want SKS's? Think about it, it's 100% bull####.

Maybe they asked for some when they were current issue, and they are just arriving now :D
