Hi Folks, after scowering google for answers i have had no luck. I just bought an SKS, love it however having one issue. It fires well and is in great condition as far as i can tell. The problem is the bolt locks open with one round left in the mag. It acts as if empty with round left and holds open the bolt. I tried reseating and loading it carefully but everytime the bolt locks open with one round left. Anyone know a fix or know why this is happening. For all the problems it could have, its a minor one but it's a pain when you only have 5 rounds to begin with. Thanks.

Check the follower; is it free to rotate or maybe seized up and/or welded, cosmo or dirt jamming it?
How is your mag pinned is it pinned to the follower. If so the fix is to dremell a notch so the follower has full range of motion. Try oiling and cleaning the bolt hold open catch make sure it moves up and down easily too.

Thanks for the advice, stripping it soon, i will take a look how its setup and see how dirty it is. I plan on giving it a thorough cleaning. Also got a really helpful pm from someone who had the same issue and fixed it by slighly bending the tab at the end of the follower allowing the bolt to strip the last round but still hold open at empty as its supposed to. Will give that a try.
