Okay, so since I wasn't able to find any real amount of pics of the Wanstalls SKS they ship out, i figured why not do it myself when mine shows up?
Hopefully I have the blessing of Wanstalls.
Anyhow, here is the box I received:
And just like others have mentioned, it is a little flimsy. I also noted the bolt handle poked through its protective bubble wrap as well as to box during shipping. I can't help but think a small block of styrofoam could have prevented this:
Once inside, everything was wrapped up tight and there was amble bubble wrap covering the old war horse!
Another pic of the bolt handle. I didn't see any real damage and it probably helps these old girls are built like tanks anyways. I'm sure they could handle some Western postal carrier
Now some closeups
And the other side:
And a few more!
Now for the dust cover. I can proudly say I am now the owner of a Factory Refurbished Tula built in 1952. You can see the square russian rearsonal mark in the pics!
I can say that during transport a little bit of cosmiline 'melted' off the metal leaving it pretty dry on spots on the dust cover and barrel. This was easily remidied by rubbing her down with an oily rag until i can give her a good cleaning to get all the cosmoline off her tomorrow. There wasn't any rust (as it was only a few ddays shipping). I haven't looked down the bore but if its anywhere as nice as the outside of her, I will be a very happy camper indeed.
Also, all the numbers match! TY Wanstalls.
There were only 2 things I was a little dissappointed with. First, I looked high and low, but no oil bottle came with it. I suppose I can pick one of these up from a gun show in the near future for a couple of bucks
And second. My MOUSEPAD!!!!! It looked like someone jabbed it twice with a small pocket knife clean through it lol. Minor issues indeed and I doubt my mouse will car
Very good all in all Wanstalls. I hope I have your blessing showing people what they can expect. It was everything I wanted and for $50 less then I thought I would have to pay!
I will update with some bore pics as I clean her up tomorrow.
